Government Transparency

Making County Government Open and Accessible

As your candidate for Converse County Commissioner, I believe in genuine accountability—making sure you have a real chance to be heard before any major decisions are made. Too often, “transparency” gets tossed around as a buzzword, but I want to bring substance and honesty to the process. My promise is to make county government truly open, focusing on keeping you informed and involved before decisions happen, not just after.

What Pre-Decision Transparency Means for Converse County

  • Advance Public Notice:  I’ll make sure every county meeting, agenda, and important decision is shared publicly ahead of time. You’ll know what’s coming up, so you can show up and be ready to join the conversation.
  • Open Meetings:  I support holding all county business in public meetings, where everyone can see what’s being discussed and decided. No important actions should happen behind closed doors.
  • Real Chances for Input:  I’ll work to gather your feedback early and often—not just when required by law, but as a regular part of how we make decisions. Your ideas and concerns should help shape plans for land use, infrastructure, budgets, and everything else that affects our community.

Why This Matters

Pre-decision transparency means you get to help shape the outcome, not just find out about it after it’s done. It’s different from just having access to records or meeting notes after the fact. True openness lets you be a part of the process, not just a spectator.

Legal Foundations—Made Simple

  • Openness Required by Law:  Wyoming law says county commissions must hold regular, public meetings with published agendas. These rules help make sure decisions that impact Converse County—like changes to land use or public resources—happen in meetings anyone can attend.
  • Notice and Hearings for Big Decisions: For important issues like zoning or budgets, the law requires public hearings and special notices, so you get a chance to speak before anything is decided.

My Pledge

As your Commissioner, I promise to honor not just the rules, but their purpose. It’s not enough to just do the minimum. I won’t let major decisions be made in private or presented as a done deal. I’ll push for real transparency and meaningful chances for you to participate. Together, we can make sure county government truly listens and serves its people. Real transparency means open doors, open minds, and open government—before the final decision is made.
